Global Warming from Fossil Fuels

We believe that global warming is so important because over time if it is not controlled then problems will and have begin to arise. Increased emissions of greenhouse gases have led to a rapid and steady increase in global temperatures, which in turn is causing catastrophic events all over the world. Australia and the United States are experiencing some of the most devastating bush and wildfire seasons ever recorded, decimating crops, locusts swarming parts of Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, and a heatwave in Antartica that saw temperatures rise above 20°C for the first time. Scientists are constantly warning that the planet has crossed a series of tipping points that could have catastrophic consequences, such as ice melting at an unprecedented rate in both the permafrost in Arctic regions and the Greenland ice sheet, accelerating the sixth mass extinction, and increasing deforestation in the Amazon rainforest. The climate crisis is causing tropical storms, hurricanes, heat waves, and flooding to be more intense and frequent than ever seen before. However, even if all greenhouse gas emissions were halted immediately, global temperatures would continue to rise in the coming years. That is why its imperative that we start now to drastically reduce greenhouse gas emissions, invest in renewable energy sources, and reduce fossil fuels as quickly as possible.
